Range Operation Centers have varying guidelines for use of the training range. For example, at Fort Rucker, visiting units, and those onsite, may contact the Range Operations Office to require a login to the scheduling tool which is a non graphical interface. Please note, that most ranges must be scheduled at least 30 days prior to training, and all prerequisites must be achieved. Some ranges require attending a meeting prior to training. Additionally, some rages will require documentation such as a risk assessment, and training roster. When a unit arrives at the reserved range, they will then call operations to request permission to occupy the range. Then Operations will handle the training programming which can control which targets pop up how many hits they should take. This information is called a range scenario. The scenario put on a disk or otherwise added to the computers on site which will run the scenario for the training units. Operations will give permission to go hot, cease fire and vacate the range. During training the Operations Center will monitor the activity. Operations is critical for the health and safety of these training units.
