Bullfrog Creek/Wolf Branch Watershed Management Plan

Water Resource Associates (WRA) assisted a multidisciplinary team of experts to develop a management plan for this Hillsborough County, FL coastal watershed. The Bullfrog Creek / Wolf Branch Watershed lies entirely within the southern portion of HillsboroughCounty, nestled between the AlafiaRiver to the north and the Little Manatee River to the south. WRA provided field reconnaissance, data collection, water quality sampling and regulatory advice in the development of this study. The objective of the study was to develop a comprehensive Watershed Management Plan for the watershed that will be compatible for future updating. General objectives of the Watershed Management Plan included the following:- Embrace the latest concepts of watershed planning outlined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
- Comply with County’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, as well as the Tampa Bay Estuary Program (TBEP) agreement.
- Address four areas of concern which include flood control, water quality, natural systems, and water supply.
- Include specific regional and local recommendations dealing with issues that are specific to the watershed.
WRA also facilitated a series of public information and input sessions with affected residents.
