Harvard Rowing Practices at Benderson Park
With the influx of winter storms and crazy cold weather, the Harvard men's rowing team has found a new practice location here in Sarasota. Since many of the rivers in Boston are currently frozen, the team was given 10 days in sunny Sarasota to do some practicing and training. They split their time between the Nathan Benderson Park, and Fort Hammer which is located in Ellenton. With all of the news surrounding Benderson Park and their recent selection as the location for the 2017 World Rowing Championship, its no wonder why an elite rowing team like Harvard's would single out the new facility as a suitable practice location. This year alone, Benderson Park will welcome more than 24 collegiate rowing teams to train at their facility. Many of which are flocking here for a relief from their snowy hometowns. This has brought an influx of consumer related economic growth. When these teams train here, they also stay in our hotels, they shop at our malls and retail facilities and they eat at our restaurants. All in all, its a win-win for everyone involved. Benderson Park is located at 2500 N Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34235.
