Updated Rules for Occupying Newly Constructed Commercial Retail Space in Sarasota County

Sarasota county has recently changed their rules for occupying newly constructed commercial retail space. A new business retailer cannot open under a temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO). The full CO must be received from the building department before the subject retailer can obtain their business license to operate. Previously a retailer was allowed to get their business license with just a TCO.
